MISSION
To provide opportunities for each Lon Morris College freshman to meet their peers on a social level, connect to the student leaders, faculty and staff in an environment outside the traditional college setting and develop a sense of Bearcat pride; making possible a more successful transition from high school to college.
PURPOSE Welcome Week is designed to aid the transition from high school to college and specifically to Lon Morris College. It is a structured program for incoming freshmen intended to establish friendships, meet student leaders, become familiar with LMC traditions, and learn about LMC campus life in a very relaxed atmosphere.
Welcome Week also allows students to get acquainted through a variety of recreational activities, intramural sports, and evening mixers. These will allow you to meet as many people as possible. You will play sports, enjoy leadership and teambuilding exercises, and even participate in group discussions. We encourage you to meet and learn as much as you can from your Welcome Week Counselors and fellow students. Topics for discussion will include Bearcat Spirit, getting to know your roommate, living in Jacksonville, and how to navigate the college experience from an insider’s point of view. There will be education sessions, tons of games, a dance, and your first “college party,” as well as ample free time for socializing. You can spend that time getting to know even more students. And who knows – you may just meet your new best friend.
