"This show was first produced in 1982 as The Fame in Maine Project with Patrick Dempsey (then a 17 year old high school student) originating the role of the rabbit. When I wrote this show, I had moved from New York City to Maine and much of my conflicting sentiments about that abrupt change in environment are reflected in the characters..."
