Academic Standards and Admissions Committee
(1) Membership: Five full‑time faculty members to include at least two with at least five years’ experience at LonMorrisCollege.The academic dean is member ex‑officio.The director of student recruiting is an advisor.A sophomore student will have voting privileges in committee meetings which involve policy‑making decisions.This student will not participate in meetings involving admission or grade appeals.The student will have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
(2)Selection: Members will be elected at‑large by the faculty.The Student Senate President will appoint the student representative after an open invitation has been issued to the student body.The student member will serve from October through May. (3)Purpose: Evaluate, develop, and recommend policies, practices, and standards of admission, and scholastic achievement. (4)Duties: (a)Evaluate and recommend policies governing admissions and assist the recruiting staff in conductinga realistic and viable program for recruitment of students. (b)Evaluate, recommend, and maintain policies for academic probation and suspension. (c)Develop criteria and recommend procedures for awarding certain academic scholarships. (d)Hear appeals procedure adopted by the faculty.Theex-officio members of the committee shall not participate in grade appeal votes. (e)Hear appeals from students whose admission has been denied for academic reasons.The Academic Dean and Dean of Admissions shall not vote in the decision on such students. (f)Serve as a screening committee for high-risk students.
