Questions??? and Answers
Q: Q: Can I be in Church Careers and also participate in choir? (Or drama, sports, dance, cheerleading, etc.)
A: A: YES! In fact, students are encouraged to participate in a full range of campus activities and take an active part in campus life.
Q: Is there a Church Careers scholarship?
A: Some students do receive a scholarship. Apply for this scholarship through the chaplain or the financial aid office.
Q: Do I have to know what kind of ministry or activity I want to do?
A: No. One of the purposes of the program is to present the full range of ministries and to guide the process of “discernment.” Also: working “in the church” doesn’t necessarily mean literally inside a church building. It means working for the Lord anywhere and everywhere.
Q: What happens if I want to go home for a weekend?
A: Students need to go home occasionally, and, with proper notice given, receive excused absences from Sunday worship duties.
Q: LMC is a United Methodist-related campus. Can I be in Church Careers if I’m not United Methodist?
A: Certainly. LMC is a very diverse campus. While the worship services are in the United Methodist tradition, each student is taught in his/her own tradition.
Q: Do I have to major in religion to be a Church Careers student?
A: No. Students may major in any field and be a part of the Church Careers program.
