Lon Morris College Department of Theatre Presents
Fiddler on the Roof

A fiddler on the roof. Sounds crazy, no? Nevertheless, there are few musicals as beloved – as poignant, as powerful, and as stirring – as Fiddler on the Roof. Distinguished Lon Morris College alumni, George Boyd and Joe Giamalva return to stage this classic musical by Joseph Stein, Sheldon Harnick, and Jerry Bock. This moving and stirring story tells the tale of Tevye, the charismatic dairyman torn between tradition and change, between his faith and the demands of modernity.
Mr. Boyd’s original stage direction offers a warm and appealing glimpse at Jewish traditions in rural Russian life circa 1905. Mr. Giamalva’s choreography will have the audience enthused by the Bottle Dance, the Russian kick step and the ghostly dream sequence.
A feast for your eyes and ears, Sholom Aleichem’s village of Anatevka is brought to life with some of Broadway’s most magical, Tony Award-winning songs :”Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Matchmaker,” and “Tradition. As memorable, as the singing and dancing will be, however, this dynamite creative duo is stressing the importance of - - yes, tradition. Considered by many to be the last show of Broadway’s “Golden Age,” the show has become one of the few truly international smashes.
Fiddler on the Roof will be presented in the Zula Pearson Theatre in Jacksonville, Texas on the campus of Lon Morris College October 11 -14. Call 903-589-4092 to reserve your tickets now! L’chaim!
