What is Kid Kountry?
Long ago in a galaxy far, far away, Amanda Holloway and David Gehrels discovered a need for a summer fun program at LMC. Being the cool people that they are, Amanda and David came up with the idea for a totally rad summer camp for kids. They wanted this camp to not only include health and fitness but also summer silliness (at least for a few days). Now all they needed was a name. After months of delineation (not really), Amanda and David came to the conclusion that bringing kids to Lon Morris “BearCat Country” was simply GENIUS. Even more genius, was how they came up with the coolest camp name known to man, Kid Kountry, and decided to tack on “day camp” to the end of it. How creative is that? Amanda and David have to be the most funnest, most smartest, most bestest people on LMC campus (next to Dr. McCall that is). Needless to say, Kid Kountry Day Camp is an exciting opportunity for our community kids to be creative and just have fun! We make safety our priority and believe that each child is equally important. This camp is designed for kids who are entering kindergarten through 5th grades and combines teamwork with health, fitness and creative arts! Kids will get to participate in fun summer games, learn creative movements, build arts and crafts and even explore nature on the LMC nature trail! Parents are welcome to sit in on our daily activities and are invited to join us for our final presentation on the last Friday of camp! Arrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh you prepared?

Here’s a little background on our camp directors:
Amanda Holloway is originally from the little town of Brenham, Texas (that’s Blue Bell Kountry!) and is also a Lon Morris College and Centenary College of LA alumna. She currently coaches dance and cheerleading at LMC and has her Master’s degree in Psychology and Speech from UT-Tyler. She will begin teaching Psychology this fall and hopes to eventually write some sort of self help/humor book about life! Amanda’s hobbies include making people laugh and eating chocolate sprinkled donuts. One fun fact about Amanda is that, as a kid, she was given the nickname “Toadie” because she liked to play with frogs. Amanda would like to encourage everyone to wash behind their ears and always break for pedestrians. Her Quote: “Sorry folks. Ain’t ain’t a word!”
David Gehrels was born in Conroe, Texas back in the year of 1977 (the best year ever for Star Wars was also born that year). David is the Director of Student Activities at Lon Morris College, and will be starting year three this fall. He enjoys collecting many things such as action figures, football cards and of course anything Star Wars related! He actually does have a few degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University in Psychology and Counseling! He is a NEW DAD, and is loving life.” Dave’s favorite quote: “Size matters not, ... Look at me. Judge me by size, do you?” - Yoda
